Secondary Trauma and Staff Retention Support
All of our Mindful and Trauma Informed Care, as well as Secondary Trauma and Employee-Wellbeing services are available at no cost to all counties in Colorado. These services are paid for through a contract between The Alvarado Consulting and Treatment Group and The Colorado Department of Human Services and are made available through Federal Monthly Caseworker Visitation funds. The Alvarado Group is honored to collaborate with our State Department in Colorado to serve those who serve others.
The Alvarado Consulting and Treatment Group, in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Human Services is offering Secondary Trauma and Staff Retention Support throughout 2023.
It takes courage to help victims of abuse, to assist survivors of acts of physical, sexual, verbal and emotional atrocities perpetrated by those who are expected to care. It can take all we have to hold space for the trauma manifestations that explode around us, the mass violence in response to violence, and to give all we have to bring peace and safety to those who may not yet, be capable of receiving.
And all while facing a global pandemic, social and political unrest, racial inequality and a sense of divisiveness in our society that is tearing down the very fabric of our foundation each day that we come to work, and each day of our lives. It also takes a unique commitment to keep doing this work despite the personal, physical, emotional, and mental impact it can have.

We are here to help.
The Alvarado Consulting and Treatment Group is available to all Colorado county staff and leadership through September 2023.
The Trauma Informed Care and Secondary Trauma Program that we offer was developed on the premise that exposure to the traumatic experiences of other people—known as secondary trauma—is an inevitable occupational challenge for the fields of victim services. However, we believe, and we have seen that organizations can successfully mitigate the potentially negative effects of trauma exposure by becoming both trauma and secondary trauma informed.
If we are to increase effectiveness, resiliency, and retention, we must, now, not later, move to integrate a program of well-being for our staff and leadership that provides a deep commitment to their health first.
The healthier our staff, the healthier our clients.
The Alvarado Group has been successfully serving Child Welfare clients, internationally, for more than three decades. Our provision of services is offered through webinars, on-site and virtual trainings, one on one and group coaching, practical tools and printed resources tailored specifically to the field of child welfare that provide the knowledge and skills necessary for organizations to integrate a Trauma Informed Paradigm of healing and to address the secondary trauma needs of their staff and retention challenges.

Resilience is the ability to rise above or bounce back from adversity, using available resources to address the hardship or consequences of an adverse event. Resilience can describe an individual, but it can also be broadly applied to providers and entire counties as well. The recognition that individuals can overcome traumatic stress by building resiliency is a central tenet of secondary trauma relief work. Rather than assuming that one is either born resilient or not, providers must recognize that everyone has the ability to become resilient. By building upon existing strengths and providing new tools for coping, resilience is a skill that can be fostered in all of us.
Please join us each month by registering your teams, or individuals for these gatherings.
You must be registered to attend.

To maintain frontline providers, to keep them in the field, we have to take care of them. We must take care of those who take care of others. There’s already such a shortage of these providers that losing any because of things that we CAN control—handling stress, managing the stressors of the job—that would be a downfall. We must do better to care for our Human Resources, our staff.
Please reach out to our Founder and Sr. Clinical Consultant, Jules Alvarado, at juli1@alvaradoconsultinggroup.com for conversation, scheduling, content creation around your unique needs and to begin the process of introducing our team to yours.
We would be honored to serve you~
